In 2001 I retired from over thirty years of office computer work. I am reinventing and re-evaluating my life and realising many more dreams, experiencing more travel adventure, and developing even further my passion for photography and writing. Freedom and choice are the driving force of my current gipsy life. I decided to sell or give away everything I own, except my empty house (that I rented to pay my mortgage). I left in Canberra, Australia, only my books, photographs and personal memorabilia. On 2 March 2002 I started my solo almost year-long African backpacking adventure. First, I am taking off to Madagascar with only what I can carry on my back. I am leaving behind my dearest son, Chris, both his children and many special friends who shaped and empowered my life, who gave me the privilege to be in their life too. Now I am excited that I could design my own way of life that fit my dreams. Its take courage and I do have fear. However I trust and believe in myself and my dreams. I dare to reach out and try to make the world a better place to be. When will I stop? Maybe in 5 years time, maybe 10 or more .... One day I will return to Australia, buy a campervan and continue my gipsy life for a while. I will search to find a place in the country to finally settle down. I dream to live long enough to write a book to share my gipsy life stories and my photographs. |
