AWAKENING DREAMS

Around the World in an Aussie Hat

In 1995-96 Basia Meder made a solo year-long trip around the world, visiting twenty-two countries. There were twelve months of simplified life, with only the pack on her back, an Aussie hat and the people that she met along the way. She visited her family in Poland and old friends everywhere, and made many new ones. Her visual and written pictures are mostly instinctive, expressing her feeling of love for nature and life and capturing her interest in the uniqueness of significant images from different countries, their people and culture. She believes that by sharing the vision expressed in her photographs she can help others to breathe and feel the diversity of the world's countries. She offers the inspiration and encouragement for others to realise their passions and dreams.

Senator Kate Lundy opened the exhibition on 20 June 1997 at the Australian National Capital Artists Gallery, ACT. Sections of the exhibition were presented in other shows in Australia.
